Happy Conception Day

If Christians really believe in the sanctity of life, then why don't we celebrate birthdays as well as conception days? To make it easy we can just count back nine months from the birthday.

I'm serious.

I don't think that is a nice thought for children...and it really is a little longer than 9 months (google it)

I feel like that could be a risky google search.

I think it's appropriate to only celebrate birthdays because it's an acknowledgment of new human life, which is the fruit of conception. We celebrate conception by allowing it to lead to birth.

Your right about the google search perhaps, but I have been told that the Koreans add an extra year onto a person's life that signifies their time in the womb.

I took the google risk. Fortunately I knew "gestation" was the right term. Speaking of term, is 38 weeks about right?
I'm serious about the possible argument a pro-abortionist could make towards pro-lifers in pointing out the celebration of birthdays as when we consider life to begin to have meaning. Along with our lack of celebration of conception, don't you think that's an arguable case?

38 weeks is correct, unless you are using menstrual age which would then be 40 weeks.

Jordan : I actually tried to vote at MBC when Brett's youth position was up for a vote when I was 17 ... I explained to Dennis that I'd technically been alive for those extra 9 months ... making me "18". He chuckled ... but wouldn't let me vote! I did offer my comments though. :o)
